Hummingbird 400tx transducer and sender question

Never owned a fish/depth finder before...

Pontoon I bought last year has a Hummingbird 400tx but the previous owner hit something and knocked off the transducer/sender(s). See pic to see what's left below the water line. Not sure how clear the pics show it but one cable is going to the bracket base and the other I believe was attached to the transducer.

The 400tx appears to be capable of showing speed and temp. Based on what I have, is it possible to have a single transducer for all functions (depth/finder, temp & speed) or do I need to buy separate senders?

What is the wire/cable that goes to the base of the bracket for?

All help is greatly appreciated!

Generally, depth and water temperature are handled by the main transducer, speed is a separate paddle wheel sender.

400 TX Manual

The XNT_9_QB_90_T Transducer is $120
The TS WFM Sensor is another $110.

At that price, repairing that old Legacy unit is not cost effective. Options.

For under $300 you can get Color displays and GPS chart-plotters included.

Re: Hummingbird 400tx transducer and sender question

So since the remnants of my setup has two wires/cables, I'm guessing that my toon had both the transducer and the speed/temp sender...and both are on the bottom of a lake somewhere. I'll open the head unit today and confirm a cable is plugged into the temp/sensor port.

Sorry Uncle....you must have been drafting your response while I was adding my above question.

You bring up a very good idea. While I can get the transducer and sender cheaper than the prices you listed, it makes more sense to invest that money in current technology and replace the entire unit. Thank you for your response!

I agree.
For a few dollars more, You can have GPS, Chart-Plotter, Color display.
The Transducers have temperature senders built in.
The GPS will give you accurate Speed and can attach to a VHF Radio to digitally transmit your location in an emergency.
