I'm looking to buy a boat that has several small chips (quarter and dime size) on the bottom edges.. the winch eye cleat has cracked the glass and not flush and has two or three scrapes as if he slid it down a cement sliding board..I have pics but can't load them here. could email them if some one wants to help me. My question, is all this minor and relatively easily fixable? the transducer is a hull thru I believe and also is all busted up. I believe he's a bad driver or has drinking problem  There is just a few small stress cracks here and there in the speckle splatter finish deck along one stringer bump and around one transom bolt hold. Transom seems rock hard even with df 70 tilted up. Boat is a Palm beach 175 if anyone knows anything about them and weather they have a lot of wood to worry about. I know this post is not real literate, please bear with me. appreciate all help on this...potential boat buyer..thanks

Hi willie, welcome to drydock...not sure of the substructure on the PB, but most of what you're describing sound cosmetic, except the winch eye, which may need to be removed, have the glass reinforced, then reset...still a minor repair.

If you open a free photobucket account, you can upload your photos to an album, then paste the img code in the text here, for a nice picture.

Also , the cracked stringer wrap may indicate core problems in the stringers and the engine bolt cracking/crazing needs a closer look too.

The pics will help ppl here help you..

I'd recommend backing off a bit and let us have a look at the over all boat. What year is she? How big is she. What motor does she have? What kind of boat is she? What's the asking price?

top left and bottom left pics don't look to scary to me, needs some attention but not going to sink her.. top right pic I'm not really sure what i'm looking t there... ? I agree on the bow eye/hook it maybe a little more serious.. everything is 'fixable' but it does depend on the asking price.. and like in my case, the right 'timing' sometimes  (i WAS looking for boats for/with a friend.. ended up finding my bayliner and selling him my boat..) also, ya back out a bit and get some overall pics of the whole boat/hull if you can..

the top right photo of the first group is the back center of the boat that is scraped thru to the fiber and also chipped to the fiber..the second group is a pic of the busted up transducer that is bottom painted and there is some white silicone in there where they tried to fix it. The boat is a 2005 Palm beach 175 w/ a 05 suzuki df 70 four stroke that looks in pretty good shape but i did notice a different hose clamp and a new therm housing was bolted on..boat says 200 hours on console gauge but it doesn't have the glass in the gauge anymore. He wants 7100 for it. I think that's to much and am thinking maybe 6 with the issues or does this boat have just to much a beating?

Just me...but i would keep looking. At $7100.00 and a 05 boat....looks like the guy had many beers on many fishing trips.

Its fixable..but would take some time and money for the DYI or more money to have it done!
