is my 1985 3.0L rated 140 HP at flywheel or at prop ?

anyone knows excatly what year they started rating engines at the prop ?

wonder how many hp are lost in outdrive ?

My guess would be crank.

I think it varies by mfg, but generally by end of 80's.

IF you have an alpha, about 30hp. I believe the VP and bravo are slightly more efficient.

I believe 1990 was the last year they were rated at the flywheel.
I believe 1990 5.7 would say 260hp, where the next year it was rated 230hp.....hence, the 30 hp (although it seems high) appears to be the losses.
