Re: How to find fish

I was using leadcore so about 10-15ft. Our lakes are still really cold. I think I was in about 40ft of water. The fishfinder started going crazy, then soon after my line started zinging and I can't remember much of the situation I was so excited.

I do have a downrigger, I just didn't use it because most of the fish on the fishfinder were 10-15ft.

You will be OK till late summer with lead core. I find at least on Lake George like many Maine lakes it's spring fed and along with mountain water run off it's cold until late summer. The Lakers are suspended around the 40 foot levels which is where the 45-55 degree thermocline is and they are usually suspended over the 150-200 foot deep areas of the lake.

Now if you really wanted to impress your friends on your next catch when you take a pic of the fish try also taking a second pic with the fish held horizontal and keep your arms outstretched so the fish is closer to the lens than your body . . . it makes any fish look really HUGE :D :) :D

It's usually worth at least a free beer at the bar from someone when you pull out your pic of your massive catch!

Sure, you caught a nice fish there. But in my opinion . . .

This is what a Lake Trout should look like:
