How stupid?

This stupid: "Dial 10-10-220 and get all calls under 20 minutes for $.99."

While it is true that a 20 minute call would cost $.05/min, what would a 10 minute call cost per minute? How about a 5 minute call?

Now THAT is stupid!

Roscoe said

"I also dispise the way the gov't and auto industry are constantly raising the base price of vehicles by adding more gimicks and "safety features." "

I'm looking at trading in my 3 year old car for a bigger model. I have a Sunfire and am thinking of a Malibu. The biggest dissapointment is that ABS is no longer standard like it was on my Sunfire. Now I have to pay extra for what I think is an essential saftey feature.

Just my 2 cents.

Also, this is stupid: "Emergency fuel". It comes in a 1gal or less plastic container (like armoral or greased lightning. From what an auto store clerk told me, the stuff sells well....
This is not very agreeable to my opinion of my fellow drivers out there on the highway---Downright scarey.

Hey 12 footer, even the best run out of gas on occasion. Even me. :D

Automotive wise, people want safe cars, the government mandates them, and if they get hurt in a crash people sue the manufacturers, no matter what the circumstances.

Re: How Stupid Do They Think We Are?????

I have never run out of fuel. Not saying I am better than anyone else, you just need to know why. I learned from my Dad.

He rarely filled the car unless we were going on a long long trip. The gas gauge always read empty. I have to give him credit, he only ran out of gas once. It always worried me that we would run out of gas. It would be on empty and he would say, its time to go get some gas. He would drive for 30 minutes to another town to save 3 cents per gallon. The whole time, my eyes were on the fuel gauge. I swear we pulled into all gas stations on fumes. When he did get gas in town, he would rarely get more than $5 worth and he always ran an Olds 98 (8 Cylinders, 4 barrel carb).

When I started driving, I always promised myself, I would never worry about running out of gas. Now I fill it up before it hits 1/8 tank and usually when it hits 1/4 tank. It is great not to worry. I don't mind stopping more often. I always fill it up too.

I've only lost my keys twice. Same darn reason. It seemed like every day, my parents would have me looking for the keys. They would both be angry and having the whole family searching for the keys. If you ever saw my Mom angry, you would understand why it was stressful.

Too bad I can't say that about not locking my keys in the car, running out of printer ink, hand soap, misplacing anything else. I am the king of that stuff. I feel bad for my son. If it is as bad an experience for him, he will lose his keys and run out of gas but never anything else. :D

Scoop, the keys thing gave me a good chuckle....I know too many people who are endlessly searching for car keys......I always used the one car/ one key method.....as soon as you know you have a spare, keeping track of that 'usual' set of keys loses importance.....

How do you lose your keys? You put them in the ignition and leave them there. How do they get lost? Oh... you all must live in the city. Nevermind.

People I work with are always locking their cars up, God forbid someone would steal that half pack of gum off the dash. I have a broken door lock on my van, and no one has ever taken my fastfood wrappers. I have had people borrow my slimjim and jumpercables though.

I've had cars broken into 3 times. 2 of them were not locked, but the thief broke a window to gain entry anyways. Go figure????? Once they pried the glovebox off the hinges. It wasn't locked either. They took my road map and a book of matches????

Re: How Stupid Do They Think We Are?????

Congrats on 15yrs Ebb...We just celebrated our 17th on Dec 14.

On losing stuff, my Aunt has to be the worst. She is always misplacing her keys. Worst case, she was staying with my mom & dad for a weekend. They went to Church on Sunday morning. That afternoon as she was getting ready to leave, no keys. Finally, after what seemed like hours of searching, she checks the pockets of the dress suit she wore to Church...hey here are my keys. Once, she left her wallet on top of car at a gas station and drive off. Next day she gets a call from a someone that had found wallet. When he returned it to her, everything including cash was still in wallet. She got *very* lucky that time.

My son can never find his belt or shoes...But, he knows right where a tiny Lego part is that he hasn't used for 3 weeks.
