How should I go about painting/restoring these two sterndrives ?

These are two OMC Cobras, the boat is a 1990 Doral Monticello.

So far I've gone over all I can with a wire brush attached to a drill and followed it up with dry sanding by hand with aluminum oxide 60 grit paper. (The pictures only show the before/after of the sterndrive on the left, I forgot to take photos after I did the work on the sterndrive on the right as it's being repaired)

I think spray painting it would be easier after I tape off some non-paintable parts but what do you recommend I do ? And what products?

As far as I've figured out from my googling I should be using a primer, then paint, then a clear coat. And a marine paint. So far I haven't found a marine spray paint but I've found a supply store that has quarts of Interlux and Pettit. Haven't seen mention of primers and clear coats.

I'd like to get this done by the weekend as the boat is scheduled to go in the water on Tuesday.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!!

Do you have a recommendation for each by any chance?
Rust-Oleum with majic brand hardener means you can spray your drives for about $50

Ditzler /ppg paint works too, however your looking at about $200

Either requires a good zinc dichromate primer if you sand down to bare aluminum

Rust oleum has a grey that will match OMC drive grey close enough. It’s one of their professional ( silver can ) line of paints. Majic hardener and reducer mixes with it as. It’s all alkyd enamel…. TSC where you can get the majic paint stuff also sells zinc chromate I think

Rust-oleum marine or can I use any (or some) of the spray cans? I haven't been able to find the marine Rust-oleum around here.

I don't think I've sanded down to bare aluminum based on the pictures, maybe a bit on some edges. Thoughts?

no to the spray cans. you cant mix hardener.

no need on marine rustoleum. go to lowes, buy the color you want. then go to tractor supply and get the hardener. or see your local Ditzler PPG paint store and get enamel and hardener.

you still need zinc dicrhomate primer if you broke thru the paint anywere.

Are you in fresh or salt water. @Scott Danforth is the rustoleum formula from @Woodonglass good for salt water engine paint?
Rustoleum formula from @Woodonglass
Spray paint/can Ebay has this color.
