Mine is a 1977 MFG with a 1977 70 hp Evinrude. Saw this boat in 1980 at the lake, then many years later, I bought it. 2015-08-14 07.40.10.jpg

We just bought our first boat. It is a 1980 SKV day cruiser with a mercruiser 260. She looks great, but has required more maintenance and a few repairs than I had expected when I purchased it.

We had it on the water a couple times and had a lot of fun. Hope to have her good and dialed in for the spring.

My current boats are a mid 70's Southwind Tunnel Dragster (pic of engine is attached) and '74 Sleek Craft Rebel, both in the restoration stage.
Prior boats were an '82 Elimintator Sportcruiser and a '78 Sundance.

Looking for a good family ski, wake board, cruising, raft up boat... Any ideas which would be the best?

Ours is a '99 which at times feels old and other times feels like yesterday!
Essentially IMO, the modern euro style sport boat hasn't changed much in the last 20 years, I still get compliments and people shocked at her age. We like the Deep V and 5.7L V8, two things hard to find on newer boats. Knock on wood, I've had no problem with the Carb engine and feel she runs just as strong as the MPI 350 I drove recently.

Also, one income kinda dictates that we hopefully will have a few more good years with her!

1994 or 1995 StarCraft Superfisherman 190. I have both years on documentation, why? Who knows. Non boat folks think it's 20 years newer. I sold my other boat this past summer for 40 bucks, Canadian. It was a 14' sailboat converted to a Duck hunters boat. I wanted to make a flower planter with it but the lady that lives here too said "I don't think so Bubby." I found it down the lakeshore a tad with a "free" sign on it so I made out like a bandit.

I bought a used 12' tinny with a motor, I wanted the 4.5 Merc for a freighter canoe. Sears Gamefisher, a rebadged Harborcraft, broad and deep. The motor is an '81, so I think the tinny is as well. The canoe went scary fast with the 4.5. .

I'll jump in. I have a 1974 Mako 15 that I have been restoring. All the electrics have been replaced and lights now work, trailer has new lights, strap, and wiring, new fuel tanks and lines, and a new Honda BF60A outboard. I go out in the lakes around Seattle WA. Have no gone out in the saltwater yet.

This year we parted with our 1966 Rinkerbuilt, 15 footer. I bought that boat in 79, just 3 months after I met my wife. So the two of us have been cruising in it a long time. It was hard for her to part with it, but I wanted something that didn't take the fuss of an old motor. We needed more room since our daughter and her husband moved back to Indiana.

We now have a 2000 Sylvan. 17ft. Adventurer with a 115 Evinrude. I still cant get over how much less gas this burns.

Like many have said age is just a few numbers. Look at me, I'm 64 now and don't feel a day over 70. Enjoy your boats all, old or new, big or small. Just today I found out 2 close pals here on the lake we Golf and sometimes fish with have that C word. Mel has colon cancer and he just found out this past week when his colonoscopy results came in. And my pal Fish has throat cancer he has been battling for over a year. He is booked in on the 22nd to remove his voice box. If he was State side the surgery would have already been done. I see an oral surgeon on the 14th. A flap of skin growing under my tongue. WTF is next. We buried Mom in August, not a great year.

As I said enjoy those rides boy's and Ladies.
