hi there someone is selling me a boat is a 21" galaxy shooting star, with trailer, trailer is in great condition the boat is solid, floors, stringers are solid, no outdrive, have a mercruiser 305, with a two barrel carburetor, engine is good, run, the exhaust manifolds are shot, exhaust elbows are shot, exhaust flappers are shot, gimbal bearing is shot, need shift cable too, the guy is asking 500$, what do you guys think about that. thanks again.

So the guy wants you to pay him $500 to haul his trash away?

I would price all the stuff you will need to make it seaworthy again and then see if you still want it, something tells me it isn't going anywhere soon.
Just an out drive will cost quite alot more than the boat.

Also think about all the work between now and when you can splash it, for now you are getting a project not a boat.

I would try to talk him down a bit, you are essentially buying a trailer with a hull on it that you need to turn into a boat, if you have the money to finish the project and the time and skills to do it then pull the trigger, just be very sure what you are getting into.

galaxy, is an older boat. little value in the hull, even though in decent condition. even less value with out running power. trailer and and engine block are what you are buying. i agree you are paying him to haul his trash away. have you even tried to start the engine?

I got rid of one just like it a few years ago. A guy saw my 71 Cadi Eldo and stopped to see if I'd sell it. I told him no, but you can have the boat for free. It was a salty and I think that the trailer was my only bargaining chip.
