I just got this motor and I am already afraid of how much fuel I might burn.I already know 9gph @ WOT but what is the best I can expect if I drive conservative? Such as trolling or cruising?
Just use it for a day, keep track of running time, refill the fuel tank and do some arithmetic ... easy. Probably will be somewhere around 4 to 5 gph, depending on RPM profile.
i've got a 90 V4 crossflow pushing an 18 centerconsole and I'm really happy with the fuel economy.
One comment for you...dont trust your fuel gauge until you verify it.
I make sure the tank is full before going out and refill upon return. that way I know exactly how much fuel is used.
Knowing how big your gas tank is, you can determine where the fuel gauge should be. so lets say you've got a 33 gallon tank and u used 11 gallons...you should show between half and three-quarter full on the gauge.
