Own it. I buy on the low end, fix em up, enjoy them. And when I'm done, I price it low for quick sale. Low prices keep my risk low. Especially with RV toys (I own a motorhome too). Very easy to take a financial bath. Have some work buddies that have $15k boats they owe $25k on.

Own it, but that monthy payment amount keeps going for something called life! (Could be the Mrs. too, but I can't rock this boat.)

Own my boat, my tow vehicle, and one of the two Bimmers. Only pay a note on the house and my daily driver.

own it, i feel its irresponsible to be in debt over a toy. I think its ridiculous when you go to boat shows or bass pro etc and they base "monthly payments" off of a 10 year loan! 10 years!, the boat will probably be worth your last monthly payment in 10 years! lol

Own it. I don't buy toys unless I have the cash to pay for them.

I am also just pleased as punch that I upsized to the current boat just before gas prices started spiking again. Makes me feel I'm doing my part to make somebody rich(er), ya know?

Re: How many of you own your boat?

I own my boat, I paid cash for it. I got it for $7,500 though I would never take a loan out for a boat.

I do have a mortgage on my house, though it makes more sense for me to buy a house and pay principle and get the tax deduction from the interest than renting. I pay the same price/squarefoot as the apartment I was renting.

I also have a loan on my vehicle. Paid 50% cash and I have a low interest rate of 3.5% on my vehicle. I could have bought it out right, though I didn't want to dip into my savings to much. Who knows when you might be let go, it is good to have a some cash in case something bad happens.

I am also refinancing my mortgage from a 30 year @ 6% to 15 year @ 4%. All those low payments you see adds up. Just like how NY likes to add small tax increases here to help this or that. It is like the straw that broke the camels back.

Re: How many of you own your boat?

We ALL own our boats. At least all of us who have the boat's title/registration in our names own them. Doesn't matter if you used your own money, or used someone elses to purchase, that's a seperate transaction. Even if you financed 100% of the purchase price YOU still own the boat. Don't believe me? Next time the boat needs service, gas, or you need to pay insurance, licenses, slip rent, or whatever, who pays? YOU DO. Why? Cause it's your boat- you own it. The finance company doesn't. Ask them to pay for all the stuff I just listed. The only way they can own the boat is to reposess it.
Also, there is absolutely nothing wrong with financing things like toys. As long as you can afford the payments.
That said, I don't owe for any loans that are secured by my boat.

I don't have near the shiny new stuff that some folks have but I don't owe a penny to anyone... I don't even have a credit card..... wouldn't have it any other way.

Own it! only financed for 2 months and paid it off! Can't see having someone taking my toy for some unforseen circumstance.

Re: How many of you own your boat?

I bought mine with cash, but I only paid a few grand for it. Working on buying another one, but the sale of my current boat will fund the purchase of the next one. I have a lot of different kinds of toys and pay cash for everything. When I was younger I financed a brand new car, after realizing how much seemingly endless monthly payments suck, I decided to pay cash for everything after that.

I'm a loaner....
Boat motor and trailer for 200 bucks.

Paid 100 up front...then give a dollar a month for 100 months.
Only 86 left!
