Forgot a 72 chevelle 2 door ,matador , the matador had a 304 and an air/con system that had desert setting and could most likely make ice.also a mid seventies fully loaded 302 ford Granada, actually a nice reliable car.

We brought lunch to my 87 year old Mom and to be 91 next month Pops today. No time to work on the list and remembered another one. 70 something Ford Capri, a big seller in Europe, in line 6, 4 speed with the dual Stromberg carbs in a little light car that flew. I had blown something on a 76 Malibu and traded it the same day because I needed to get to work the next morning and my 79' Audi 5000s was in the shop, it always was. It went through starters like oil filters. Found out a VW Rabbit starter was identical at 1/3 the price. My 91 year old Father remembered the Capri today but not I. I had it early 80's as a Steel Plant beater and when I went to visit them after day shift I would ask where Dad was. He would take that thing for a spin. It was faster and handled better than my 76' L-88 Vette, hands down.

Maclin, There are hundreds of cars listed here but your Chrysler Cordoba caught my attention of all the beauties listed. I never drove a Chrysler until 2004 and won't again. But both my brothers not only had the same year Cordoba's they were both the same Chocolate Brown, they called it Copper and neither one knew the other was buying one the exact same week! Both had the "Rich Corinthian Leather" of course. It was weird when we all went out to see their new rides before Sunday dinner at home and both cars were twins. I asked if they got a 2 for 1 deal. Neither was none too happy about the other when they saw each others car. Those were 2 huge butt ugly cars. Not yours, theirs, no yours too. You don't see many Cordoba's at Barrett Jackson, I don't think I have ever seen one actually.

Guys can you imagine if we had 1/4 of some of the classics you guys have listed. Don't think about it. Maybe someone can cherry pick some of our cars and estimate how many millions they would be worth today!!!

Old Ironmaker Thanks, I think. Can't hurt my MoPar feelings anyways. My '77 was Sunfire Russet Metallic with White Landau style half vinyl roof with the coach lights. I corrupted my little brother with that one, he used to borrow it and bounce the front wheels in front of the High School almost getting air. Not due to the tuned 400cid V8 engine as much as the suspension travel. Little pooper can drive.

That wasn't good enough I guess, so years later he back-halfed a '76 and procharged the 360...

Not bad for 2.2 tons and a 360. change the heads and it would do much better......heck, removing the 300# back seat would make it do much better

You know I only jest and would kill for one of those era American Iron Dodge Chryslers today.

OK, what is that car? It looks like a Chrysler Cordoba. It must have taken a few Ponies to move that tonnage. We were never into American Muscle. Our little crew was made up of kids that were mostly Italian, of Italian decent or Mangacakes (a good word for the other thread) who wanted to be Italian. Older cousins from NY and Toronto drove, Alphas, Fiats and 1 actually had a Ferrari Dino. So that was the way we leaned but no one had an Italian car in HS, a P-1800 Volvo, Studebaker Avanti, an Alpine, Austin Healy's, MG's, Triumphs and Mini Minors and Mini Morris to name a few. We could never compete off the line at the lights but would destroy a Charger, Duster, Challenger, Super B, Road Runner or a tricked out Cordoba to name a few in a bottom to top and back down race for ownership on Snake Rd. that was along the Niagara Escarpment. I used as much Sunoco 90 (?) to run up the mountain and back down than a Cordoba would use to start it. If from a standing start there were guys that could outrun our rides on foot in a 1/4 mile!!!!

I am compiling my final list of cars, trucks and bikes, well past 45 now. I am trying to remember as many details I can like you amazing guys have. I am told it is good for your "Cerebral Elasticity."

Old Ironmaker I remember the Capri - it was badged as a Mercury here in the states. My neighbor had one, and it was a great car. After '78 they started sharing a body with the Mustang, and for a few years in the 1980s I think they were the better looking car.

I have to add one to the list - it didn't make it very far, but someone talking about jeeps up above reminded me that I played with a '43 Willy's for a year or so. She was gone too far, but it was fun to try. Some of the accessories (manual windshield wipers for example) were a riot.

Old Ironmaker That is a '76 Cordoba. I started calling them 'Dobas a long time ago. I named this one ProDoba, and he had some emblems made for the door panels that say that. Not that we are car guys or nuthin :)

I can see a well produced film chronically the life of both a man and a woman through the life experiences one had while traveling in their cars. It could start in the 20's and end after the War, could be the 50's and end at 9/11. Another could be a Baby Boomers life and end now. From the day they drove their first car in High School or bombing around corn fields in their early teens and take Heidy Gertstenberg for a ride to the back 40 to see the Sunset to that dreaded last ride in the black Fleetwood to the final resting place. Again just today at the Social Club we were talking about cars and this exact thread. I may not remember what year I spent time with a certain lady or another young woman. But if I remember back to what car I had when we either argued in for the first time or made love in for the last time. I could tell you the month and exact year. Not because I knew what year we dated, but I can recall the exact car I had when I was her. Our lives can be tracked through the cars we had.

Anyone want to fund a screenplay? I'll need the funds to schlep it around Hollywood.

The automobile doesn't have the romantic appeal it had in the last century. A film like that wouldn't play for the younger crowd. We old farts grew up in a "car culture". Many of the important events of our lives had a car involved. The cars were interesting and they had character. No more.

I strongly disagree. Nostalgia isn't limited to any one generation. As long as a story has "Drugs, sex and Rock n Roll." It sells. There are 20 somethings that have 60 year old bands on their I Phones, and they love it. The cars aren't the stars the characters are. Cars help bring the story together, that's all.

One of the many that I wish I still had is the '66 valiant station wagon. We explored every nook and cranny of AZ in that beater. I've had many cooler cars but I loved that oddball.

That slant six was bullet proof too. I was thrown threw the windshield of a valiant station wagon in a T-bone crash without hardly a scratch.
