If you're moderately handy, it's not bad. Some parts of it aren't too much fun (most of us find the grinding out of old fiberglass to be one of the least pleasant parts of the task), but it's really not too difficult. The key is to read LOTS of restoration threads here on iboats before you start (if you can find restorations of the same or similar boats, that's a plus), ask lots of questions and post lots of picture.

There are lots of experts here, and lots of folks who will encourage you to keep at it. It can be done!

Good luck,
Jim

I wouldn't put it in the water now, it's likely got expanded foam flotation, any leaks will be hard to trace down while the deck & foam are installed. Unless you're on the fence about rehab'n this boat.

The pix aren't real clear, but this looks like fiberglass w/ a rotted plywood deck:

As my one of my new favorite lunch spots, Firehouse Subs, sandwiches, this is going to be a Fully involved Resto. Deck, transom & stringers....

You already own it, so I'd pull it apart. Any evidence of water intrusion and hull cracks will probably be fairly obvious after you've torn it apart.

Limited by your wallet, skills & budget.

I/O makes cockpit space a bit smaller then in an OB boat, but as long as you rebuild the deck(floor), stringers(joists) and transom (backbone) as they were originally, and maintain support of the hull sides along the gunwale, console & bow area and keep track of fore~aft (front to back) & side to side weight distribution (port to starboard) you can design any layout you want.

insulate the livewell and it doubles as a cooler when not fishing.

you could covert any cooler into a livewell but don't waste the money on a yeti I would buy a coleman form walmart or do it yourself. A bit of wood, fiberglass and some sray foam is the redneck way.

As far as changing up layout if you have to tear floor and/or stringers out you can do whatever you want putting it back together. Think gutting a house to the stud and removing all non load bearing wall. Put it back together how you want it

I've not done what you are getting ready to do however from reading other threads on the subject - you can leave on trailer and brace up at other points along the hull so when you remove structural stuff it will not 'relax'
