How do you Repaint a Motor

Hello Everyone,

I am in the process of restoring a 68-71 Naden Big Fisherman, and I am looking at motors for it. This motor is being advertised as low hours and running, for $330. It would be a pity to put a poor-looking motor on a newly restored boat, so if I pick this up, I would consider repainting it. Can that be done, if so how? How do you restore the appearance of a motor? I've done a quick search on Iboats, but didn't find anything.

As with any paint job it's all about the prep. Most motor housings are either aluminum or plastic. If aluminum you'll need to use SE primer. If plastic Krylon makes a good rattle can product called Fusion. You just need to ensure all oil and grease contaminates have been removed prior to shooting any paint.
