I have a 1975 fibercraft boat. I need to replace the seats. It is the kind that unfolds into a bench and is a back to back seat folded up. I need to take it out but when i looked at the wood the cushion is attached to i noticed the wooden frame isnt screwed into the boat. Instead it is molded directly into the fiberglass of the hull. My boat doesnt have a floor its just the hull that you wal on. How do i remove this seat. I cant just buy new cushions.

Re: How do i remove boat seats

Greetings and welcome to iboats!

Pictures are always a good start here so folks can get a good look at what you are seeing and be able to offer more informed advice. Perhaps your best option would be to take it to an upholstery outfit and see what they can do. Hard to say without pictures.

Hi Bruce and welcome to Iboats :)

Aye..kinda tricky without pics..but ..

If those seats slide..then look on/under the the sliders. There should/might be a "stopper" bolt where the seat sliders stop ( for safty ). Undo the stopper bolts and try sliding one side of your seat at a time.

Sometimes there are Roll pins in there that you have to tap out with a punch and a hammer to get them to unlock from the slides.

Ive done some that are a Real Pain thinking " WTH were these designers smoking !? " :) ..

YD.
