Nothing wrong with what you did, your boat, your design and if it makes you feel safer, then it is a great idea. Personally, I have never had a hydraulic system fail, nor do I know anyone that has, but that doesn't make you wrong!! There are some folks that get their nighties in a bunch when folks don't jump at their ideas, but so what. When I had motors with manual tilt mechanisms, I always made home designed gizmos to keep the motors from flopping around. Whether anyone else left ked them or not made me no difference....my boat, my fix.....everyone else can fly their own kite !Fine...I'm a complete moron for even thinking about doing something that involves a single wrench. I guess I'm also a moron for using a wrench on the threaded drain plug, and I should have just been finger tightening it all this time. Or better yet, using the rubber plug instead with the pull tab that can be easily ripped out of the hull.
I probably should just go burn down the boat instead, because clearly I have no business even near a boat with these crazy thoughts.
Sorry I asked....
