ArkBoater where in Arkansas are you from? My wife grew up in Mountain Home right inbetween Bull Schoals and Lake Norfork. We are moving back in about a year and a half I so cant wait to get out there with those 2 great lakes.

Here's my 17ft 1986 Glasstream 172 Cutlass. I'm starting my 3rd season with it. The wake tower came with the boat. My 2-year-old will only get on if she can drive...:) GPS Speed with the Turbo Prop and a Merc 140 is 45 Mph.

Alexander is a suburb of Little Rock. We usually do our boating on Ouachita. If you have not been on it, it's one of the cleanest lakes in the US and has over 40,000 acres of water and over 200 islands which are very popular for camping on!

Hey! I almost bought that same boat the other day! I was torn between that model andthe 230sx I believe it was? the sx was more of a sport boat. It was soild read but if I had gone LX the black was what I was gonna go with.

I was asking the saleman a few questions but he didn't know so let me ask you if you don't mind.

what engine option does yours have? and what is the top speed you have had it at say with just you in it?

also I forgot does the lx version like yours have the exhaust through the hull up top so you can hear the engine good? I think it did..I know the sx did.

he was trying to push the sx on me which was a few $$ more.

thanks

Re: how about a new show us your boat thread???

The SX has a cuddy, the LX has the open bow. The SX's have big block power options, (small block standard) the LX are only small blocks. (The 6.2 is supposed to be a 'big block replacement', but cubic inches don't lie)

Mine has a Mercruiser 320hp 6.2L w/Bravo I, largest engine offered then for the LX. All the new Stingrays are Volvo Penta, so 350 320hp is the largest. It hits an honest 60+mph with a couple in the boat. Mine has the Captains Call exhaust, switch on the helm that goes from thru hull to thru prop instantly, (it's always on thru-hull :)) it's not as loud as my Sunbird, but it sounds very, very good. Plus it is like new, (72hrs) no wrench turning... yet. I bought this boat without ever having ridden in one, let alone even SEEN one in person! I knew it had the power I wanted, had to have the open bow, and I really love the lines of the 230's, long and sleek, very nice size for a microboat.

Speaking of Sunbird, here is my 1986 Sunbird GT208. 300hp 350 OMC Cobra, 4" Through Hull via Revolution Marine exhaust manifolds and Hardin Marine 4" Tips that exit at either side of the transom under the swim platform out of the back, very unique setup. I love the boat, but it has some transom rot, I decided not to fix it so am parting it out. Everything for sale. :)

Nice! yea I am realling digging the 230's I'd have a hard time picking between the lx and sx the LX has the open bow I'm used to but I've always wanted a big block..

do you have a sound clip of your stingray?

on the top of this 3rd page on this thread is my 84 with a 350 I've always thought it sounded pretty good.

but I'm def. getting a stingray 230 not sure which yet..btw u don't want to sell yours do ya? :)

Re: how about a new show us your boat thread???

No vids, sorry. Maybe this spring.

Nah, not for sale. I stole mine this past fall from a guy in Louisiana, he wanted to move it quick to go bigger after he saw the Big Boy boats down in Destin, FL. Already had everything I would do to it, 10 speaker 1000watt stereo, custom Top Gun Cover, trickle charger and tinted glass.

The vinyl is amazing, very nice quality. The boat shoots outa the hole, and hits real quick on plane. Handles amazing, on a rail. Gets sloppy with heavy chop 2-3', but all small boats do.

There is a guy here, Dave is it? Has a BBC 25' Cobalt that does 70mph he says... I want to race him. :)
