Stan, I hate the %*&^* media.

Can these idiots be locked up for life for the crimes they were about to commit, or is your court system as bad as ours?

Ken

Ken our courts system is even worse, here's a classic example:

Couple of years ago a group of Afghani men hijacked a passenger jet and forced it to land at an airport near London. There was a tense stand-off and finally they negotiated an end to the hijack and they were all arrested and charged...........................then the bampot lawyers got involved and the human rights crowds :'(

The end result? They got off the charges and then a case was brought against our Home Secretary (Condi's equivalent in the UK) and they won that case with the result that we couldn't even deport the filthy gets back to Afghanistan as they were "in fear of their lives"..................hmm what about the passengers and crew of the airliner they hijacked?

Hang 'em high! In public! Broadcast worldwide with Arabic translations

We need to send a clear message to these people and we need to do it now.................

Stan you forgot to mention who the defence laywer acting for these people was.

Non other than Mrs Blair, thats Mrs Blair married to Tony Blair PM.

Oh how I trust our leagal system. NOT.

Hmm. The the same news media is reporting on the latest terrorist thwarting. Wonder if it's sensationalized, propagandized, falsified, and doctored.

I suggest you and PW take a couple deep breaths, and reflect upon just who you continually defend , and who you never defend..
I can't understand it.
Instead, people like you, PW, **** durbin ,moveon dot org just spread the hatered.

Those who acted like you and PW, back in 1971, (People like Hanoi jane, her brother and john fn kerry) killed thousands of Vietnamese citizens and American soldiers by their actions allone... Not a weapon in sight....Unless you8 count this one;
Jane_gun.jpg

But the weapon she sat on was not fired by her. She killed with photo ops like the one above. She masacred countrymen by actively condemning their missions.(click here to learn more).

PW and You find allegiances with those with the most animosity toward America -- as opposed to those who champion freedom of reliigion around the world... while defending terrorists and those who glorify them. Why is this?? Is it strickly a "hate bush" thing? "Hate God" thing? Both?
Or what exactly fires your rage against the very nature of your very own country, yet, pathologically, out of
all celebrities you choose to admonish, you choose Rush Limbaugh, an actual patriot of America while defending alrueters and aljazeerah?

Do you also support the violent overthrow of your government and the anihilation of it's innocent citizens as my enemy does?

What fires your synapses? I often wonder!!

"Hooray for the good guys, terrorists foiled"!!

So who is sensationalizing this? NY, Mass, and Cal are sending in the National Guard to the airports. Are they expecting an airport invasion, I wonder?

I really hate this, because I fly periodically, and now I won't be able to take my laptop, or cellphone, or CD player... I really don't understand the new rules. You get behind security, buy a coffee from a vendor and can't bring it on the plane?

Hey, I am all for intelligence gathering and phone tapping--that's the only way to attempt to stop this--you aren't going to stop it by denying some mother with a sealed bottle of formula from getting on the plane---
I just think you need a warrant from a court somehow. If it is cumbersome, streamline the process somehow.

The risk from lack of any oversight of any kind is too large in my book.

Freedom is after all what we are supposed to be fighting for.

I am glad they caught the guys, of course.

I thought we were discussing the news media. I didn't know we were going to discuss me. Wait a minute - let me go get my wife cause you can't hold a candle to her when my criticism is the topic. She'll want to be in on this. But don't use that word "synapses" in front of her. She already has an adequate vocabulary when she goes after me.

"you aren't going to stop it by denying some mother with a sealed bottle of formula from getting on the plane---"

I recall it being reported in the media sometime back about a guy who had a bomb ib his shoe...at the time I bet someone said "No one would put a bomb in their shoe, it wouldn't be strong enough to do any real damage"
Luckily we didn't find out...never say never..who knows

Ditto on every single word of what 12Footer said. And PW2 ,since when did you become in favor of wire tapping for intelligence gathering? And who the heck needs to tote a cup of coffee onto a plane?Sheesh. Can't ya just wait and get one on board? They're trying to prevent the smuggling of benign fluids that only become deadly when mixed. Why can't you just cooperate and stop whining about a few minor inconveniences?I'm glad you dodged the draft for your own good. They'd have given you hell in boot camp.

FTR, I have always been in favor (as most progressives are) of legally performed wire tapping...ie with some sort of a warrant (from FISA court or whatever).

And frankly I can't understand what 12 footer is even saying. A free press is the cornerstone of democracy and freedom.

And of course I am thrilled with them capturing the alleged terrorists

Abject fear is a powerful force I don't like, nor do I think it necessary, for the inevitable over reaction that will ensue, but I suppose it will happen.

So much for fighting them over there so we won't have to fight them here, I guess

I sure hope the British government has provided Korans and prayer mats for them. :%

Send in Amnesty International and the UN. They could be torturing them with Air Conditioning or worse, asking them personal questions.

You can bet your last dime that they have all their human rights and at my expense

On a personal note so that everyone can understand where I'm coming from on this one: I'm sure people on iboats dc have noticed that I'm usually quiet and don't get involved in these posts normally bacause I think there are plenty of people on here who can express my views without me pouring gasoline onto the flames but this particular one really strikes a chord because I was with the Search and Rescue squadron who got called to Lockerbie in December 1988 when terrorists blew Pan Am flight 103 out of the air. I personally spent 12 days that Christmas recovering other people's family and friends from the Scottish countryside.

I don't want anyone to have to go through that again.

Do you seperate your opinion from yourself somehow? Of course, "this is about you", unless you just rent your opiniions, or adopt your wife's. But i can understand you not wanting to answer any of those questions I asked you.
After all, "Let's not show your cards to your enemy", right? Keep them scratchin their heads, right?
