Hey everybody, I'm new to the site and seeking some knowledge. I have a Nitro z7 with a hook in it. My engine won't get to maximum RPMs and the bow won't lift as much as it should. I don't have a warranty so I'm looking into getting someone to fill it. I hear that is a solution for this problem but I have yet to speak with anyone who has done this or had it done. I appreciate any input.

Some manf's put a hook into it on purpose, from a safety perspective.

The fact your motor doesn'y turn up like you expect it to could be a matter of having the right prop on it.

Then again, you may be a victim of a poorly set up trailer.... If that's the case, I'm not sure there is a "generic" fix.

This is a known defect with Nitro boats. They replace warrantied boats but I don't have a warranty. I have tried multiple props and prop to pad heights with little to no change in performance. Here are a couple of pics.

Whew! Hooked for sure. Best of luck there. You're sure they were fixing these under warranty? That they weren't built like that on purpose?

Thats a major repair not just a fill in. Filler is for skim coating.

First off, I know almost nothing about boating, I'm learning a lot from this site. So take this for what it is...
When I was searching about hull work a while back I came across this site and how they talk about fixing hull "hook" >> https://www.boatcustoms.com/hull-blue-printing
I would call them and send your pics to see if it's feasible to fix.
Good Luck !

easy fix take off anything not secured to boat flip boat and rest on stable bases then build strait edge along chine as a form then i would fill it with a mix of chopped glass and resin(of course grind area to be filled to remove all gelcoat to fiberglass) 24 grit to give you more bite "more surface area" id fill it then id fair it then id shoot it with paint or gelcoat whatever you prefer, flip it back over assemble and ride it like ya stole it!

i do wonder though if this hook wasn't intentional imagine if you will trim tabs but built into boat it would keep front end down by having that, i would check other side to see if its exactly the same if so id question if it wasn't intentional

remember to trim up a bit when you are on plane also check height of engine on transom with that hook i would imagine trimming will yield different results then normal or what you might be used to with other boats
