Hook in Aluminum hull?

I've been looking at a 1981 Starcraft SS 18' to restore, but the transom is hanging off the bunks by two feet or so. Are alum. hulls susceptible to developing a hook? There is a 140 hp johnson hanging on the transom as well. I have no idea how long it has been sitting like this, I would suppose for quite a while. By eyeball, it looks straight, but I know a hook can be there even though you can't see it. I'd really like to get this boat, but if there is a possibility of a hook in it, I'll pass it over and keep looking.

What is a hook and how would it be identified..is it better to get the boat off the trailer to replace the transom and stringers? Hope I'm not hijacking a thread.
Thanks,
