honda dies when throddling down

i have a 200hp honda runs perfect just dies when throddling down to nuetral. starts right back up...... any ideas?

I'm not familiar with that specific motor, but does it have one of those things that controls how quickly the throttle closes if you back off really fast? i.e. if you chop the throttle suddenly, it will slow down the closing of the actual throttle plate for the last 10% or so. If yes, make sure that thing is working correctly.

The actual specific model number of the engine might come in handy to understand what could be causing the issue.

Not the TPS, though I suppose a bad TPS might possibly cause the issue too. The parts diagram simply calls it "diaphragm"? Here's a picture of it on a much smaller motor. I don't know if the 200 has this or not, but my old truck had one so maybe they do. The purpose is when you suddenly fully close the throttle, it actually holds the throttle open a little bit for a second or two, to prevent stalling.
