Honda 30hp - Help please what year??

I am purchasing a boat that has a 30hp Honda outboard, serial no. BAWL 1003419. Can anyone tell me the model year of this motor? Thanks.

As far as I'm aware, there is no user information (including year) in Honda serial or model numbers. You need to contact a honda dealer.

I have searched for years and am unable to locate a suitable data base.

i have a chart for some carburator parts that shows that your motor should have been made 1995-1997. 1998 the number starts with a 3 and that BAWL designation doesn't show before 1995. it's not real definitive but at least it is a start to the apprximate age of the motor.
