Got to messin around the shop this morning so I thought I'd try to make an engine flusher cause the muffs don't work so good on older outboards. Had a lower off a 67 20hp Johnson that was junk so I scabbed the upper water intake plate off it. I drilled a hole through the plate and threaded a brass nipple in it and the soldered it. My Father in law ( who is a Maytag dealer) had several washing machine intake hoses, so he "donated" one. It ain't real purdy but it works great.

It works on any OMC 15 through 20hp from 53 to 67 or so.

Good job.

(I was curious where this thread was going after seeing just the title!)

Re: Homemade flusher

hate to tell you the main water intake is on the front edge of the exhaust.

also please resize your pictures, so they are not so wide.

red area is water pickup.

Your'e right, that is the main pickup. But you can still force water to the pump where I did. Like I said, works great.
