Holiday 160 transom

What can I do to protect the transom? It has 2 soft spots one on the right side and one on the left side. Otherwise it seems solid. It doesn't look like the motor flexes when on throttle. Or is it best just to put in a new one. Would hope to wait until winter if possible.

replace the transom. its a weekend job.

once rot starts, only cure is to remove it.

Looks like the original transom and it may be starting to delaminate, I highly recommend replacing it.
