holes in transom, marine tex them?

i am repowering my bayliner. the problem is the force has a 8" spread and the replacement motor has a 7 5/8" spread.
would marinetex be ok to use to patch the 3/8 mounting holes? any suggestions as to what to use to patch?

Yes. You can fully fill the holes and then re-drill the new ones.

Sure, but I then layed some fine glass w/ resin over the top of the marinetex on both sides. Maybe overkill, but I feel better about it.
