Re: Holding up the boat ramp!
I have never seen a rude person at the ramps on the lake close to me where I go. Even those who have trouble backing or loading are given plenty of courtesy. I have never seen anyone cutting in line, prepping on the ramp, using the courtesy dock for long stays. Last weekend I pulled in behind a nice big something. I was prepped from the campsite, so was ready to go. The guy with all the money stood up and said "go ahead buddy, I am not quite ready".
When I loaded last sunday it was the first time I have ever had trouble loading. My large mother in law wouldn't get out of the back of the boat and she kept walking from side to side to "make sure I was going straight". I was holding eveyrone up, so I pulled it on as good as I could. About 2" off of the roller on front. I pulled out to the parking lot to allow others to go before I re-floated to get a better position.
Turned out the man behind me waiting to load had more trouble than I. He had a fishing boat and 2 teenage sons. He insisted on driving it onto the trailer, but just couldn't get it done. All this time the 5 people waiting to launch were sitting back patiently waiting. No harsh looks, no words, just friendly people.
For my part, growing up on a farm, backing a boat trailer in is second nature. Naver had a problem at all. Around here a lot of the older guys put a ball hitch on the front bumper and push the boat down the ramp. Must be easier.
