Hog Ring Replacement

When replacing wobble rollers and new hog rings, is there any trick to installing the new hog ring?
I assume no special tool. I took an old one off (easy) and tried putting it back on with channel lock pliers. Had to compress both ends into the roller arm hole to get it to stay. Is that it?
Will be changing 16 rollers this weekend in the boat ramp parking lot and want it to go smoothly and quickly!

They do make special pliers that will make the job much easier.Upholstery shops use them for securing car seat covers.Click on the word pliers above.Hope this helps.
