Re: Here we go with the 16ss
You got that right the next one is pretty easy to. I still haven't found any good tricks for cutting the curves straight and consistently.
Hey Sig, somewhere in one of these threads I did a little write up on the method I use, but I can't find it. quick description, measure the widest the deck needs to be at the rear edge of the sheet plus 1/2", divide it in half, from one side of your sheet of ply draw a square center line across the 4' sheet using this measurement, also mark the overall measurement that includes the extra 1/2". Depending on how tight the curve is dictates how many marks you need for the next step, the tighter the curve (SS bow deck more reference ) or (first curved floor deck, less reference) For the bow deck I measure every 4" the width of the hull, start at the console fronts and put a tick mark on both sides of the hull every 4" to the bow. You want to measure the top of your ply cuz it is the widest, the easiest way to allow for this is to take a narrow strip of the ply and lay it on the angle the bow deck sits on and mark the top of it at the 4"marks. Now measure all distances across the hull mark them on a pad, then divide them in half and transfer them to the center line and edges of your new sheet. Once you have done that join the dots, I have a piece of 2"wide X 3/16 X 5' long aluminum I use to do this, place a small block of wood next to the first measurement on the ply and clamp it, then clamp the straight edge to the block, this allows you to use one hand to get the straight edge to follow your marks and the other to mark the curve. For the floor , I lay a piece of 1/2 inch ply on the stringers and measure across the top of it to get the right measurement. Set your jig saw at 45 degrees and cut just on the outside of your lines. For final fitting I use and angle grinder with a 36grit flap wheel or sanding disk and my belt sander.
Hope that makes sense Sig.
