Re: Here we go again

Well my commute sucked majorly this morning. Ice everywhere. I think the highways were worse than the secondaries. I love risking life and limb to get here on time to sit in front of a computer which I could just as easily and probably more effectively, do from home.

Oooh man I can relate to that. The new VP kind of put telecommuting to bed so now I have to suffer these winter commutes this year. Argh! MNDot does a pretty good job getting the roads plowed so they alleviate a lot of headaches but not all of them!

Here in central MO they are calling for anywhere from 12 to 24 inches today. Already have a couple of drifts over a foot with perhaps 4 inches on the ground. The wind is bringing the snow sideways at over an inch an hour. On a positive note, we missed all the ice/sleet that was forecasted.

OK, so it rained in CA all day Sunday, I flew to Denver Monday AM. 15 degrees when I go there. Had meeting Downtown, came out at 4 PM, 10 degrees and sideways snow. Was supposed to go to Dallas Tuesday AM, but thought I better get out of Denver while I could so I flew last night. Woke up to 23 degrees and sideways snow, Now I'm stuck in the Hotel, meeting cancelled and probably going to fly to Houston when I can. LOL

DFW is shut down, as you have noticed. So is Love field. My car is one big block of ice.....should have thrown a boat cover over it last night

Re: Here we go again

Woke up to thunder sleet at 3am when the power went out. Yesterday afternoon I was comfortable in shorts and a t-shirt. Today it is 22 degrees with a howling north wind. The power came back around 9:30am, but not soon enough for the teacher had to get ready for school. Princess was in a great mood being denied her blow drier and curling iron. At least the precip was short lived. The wife is a travelling teacher and it's bad enough in the cold wind, but at least she's not getting rained or snowed on.

Thirty minutes north of us is where the real fun stuff begins.
Stay safe, folks!!

Central PA didn't get the snow they called for last night ... just an 1 1/2" of sleet! YIKES! Roads are still slick, school canceled today. Calling for the major rain, freezing rain/ sleet/ snow to start soon. Saying an inch of ice before turning to snow ... could be slick again tomorrow!

Been snowing for 4.5 hours now, with about 3.5" on the ground. They called us back to the garage early, and said we aren't working tomorrow. Winds are blowing it & drifting it already too. No schools today, and I can almost guarantee none tomorrow. It's gonna be REAL BAD if it snow from now through noon tomorrow as predicted.

Started up about 5:00 with the snow. It's now 6:00 over an inch, winds 30MPH++ instant blizzard. There are calling for 15 -18" by the time its done, here in SW Michigan. Glad I got my plow truck running today.

Time to slip on home, Fire up the wood burner  have a toddy :D and tuck in for a day or two. :)

This is a storm literally of "inches". We have been just south of the freezing line all day, nothing but heavy rain. 30 miles north they have extreme ice. St. Louis 100 miles northwest has blizzard conditions. The wind just now has started to howl and we dropped below freezing but the system is just about past us.

Boy did we ever dodge "the bullet". :D

Supposed to get ice all night here. I took off work tomorrow (to allow me to decide whether or not I'm going in). I think that was a good move.

I thought you binary guys were way ahead of the curve with working from home..Years before us remote sales guys!
Heck...I wouldn't last 30 minutes out on those roads..

I gave up my flexibility for a 30% larger paycheck to work for a nazi. 'nuff said. It's a great job with the exception of the 1940's attendance policy. It is extremely frustrating as I have NEVER had a job that I could have done just as well from home and yet I have never been able to tele-commute. Someday.....someday.
