help needed please

hi guys we have just restored a dinghy its 8ft the question is it sists perfect in the water when empty but once we get in it seems to sit rather low in the water thats before we have the outboard on my question is on a fibreglass dinghy when loaded where abouts should the water line be and is it wise to raise the sides and back to make it higher hence given more area above the water line
all advice aprieciated

Most are small and set deep in the water. I have a picture of my 2 kids + 2 extra and a 100 dog+ large battery and trolling motor. Two of the kids are bailing. two are trying all they can do to keep dog in the middle.

ya they usually sit low in the water. There easily overloaded so watch what you put in them because on wave can swamp the boat. what are you using the dingy for?

Is this the same boat that you stated was 9' in your post this past November? Adding height to the sides and transom will really not accomplish much. The added weight will force it to sit even lower. Boats float from displacement and what you need is a larger boat or less weight inside of it.

hi see Bob Vts post i second it!!!!!!!!! an 8ft boat is basicly a tender to get you to a mooring in a protcted harbour

If you restored that dinghy and it looks new or great condition. you could probably sell it and get another boat and break even.
