Hey guys,
My lower end cracked underwater and water got in the oil so now it's fried. Mechanic says the gears are fried and needs a complete rebuild. I saw the gears, they are chewed up pretty bad and the dog is snapped! The lower case is also cracked so he said I am better off finding a replacement.
Question 1: Is there any other lower end that will fit? I heard mariner/merc may be interchangeable...???
Question 2: What is a good source to get a reasonably priced ($600 or so) used one in the southeast ie" North Carolina area within 250 miles.
