Re: Help!! Im drowning, What would you do? true story!!!!
It was just this summer when a friend and me challenged each other to swim out to a buoy. This was on Lake Michigan and it was not too rough out. We both started to swim out to it when suddenly we realized there was some good current pulling us out. It was real easy to swim out. As I was within a few hundred feet of the buoy, I could feel that I was only at about half strength. I immediately turned around and told my friend, I was swimming back. The next 30 minutes was the hardest struggle of my life. I felt two-three times that I was going to die. As soon as I reached the beach, I just laid there for probably 2 hours. After I was able to recover I talked to my buddy who thought once he got to the buoy he would just hold on to it and wait for some more strength to come to him. What he didn't realize was holding on to the buoy was more work then swimming. The waves were pushing it back and forth and it wasn't strong enough to hold his weight up. He barely made it as well. Life lesson learned. When you see something that looks like its easily within swimming range, it's not. Get a life jacket on.
