Anyone familiar with a Starcraft Jaguar? It is circa 1961, about 17-18’ long, fibreglass and is equipped with 100s outboard. In pretty good shape but needs some help. I am not familiar with this model...don’t see the Jaguar name on any listings for 1961 or later....has anyone heard of it?
I will post a pic when I figure out how.
Thanks for any input you can provide.

You said it was a Crestliner, now you say it's a Starcraft. Hard for us to nail down what you have.

Click on Forum Help in the sig below and look at the photo attachment tutorial.

Welcome aboard the forum.

Jaguar, not a name that I've heard or seen in the brochures for a Starcraft.

If it is a Jaguar, and fiberglass, then it is not a Starcraft. Starcraft never made a fiberglass model with that name.

Here is a list of the 1961-1962 Starcraft boat models, they did have a few fiberglass, but not a model called a Jaguar. The second image is the listing in their 1961 Brochure.

Sorry for the mixup...is definitely a Starcraft (was going from owners word, he was incorrect). I have a pic of the ID plaque and will have to resize it and post later today. The plaque says builder is “Starcraft Ind.”, Model: Jaguar, Serial No. 1 - 61 and build Date: 1961
I have not seen that name in any brochures either....any ideas?

Like GA said, that is not a starcraft and looking at that ID plate, IND sometimes means and individual made that boat in the garage, in 1961 there were several companies that were posting plans in magazines or you could order a set of plans for a low cost.. That almost looks like a fiberglass over plywood kit boat to me.

Edit: That is a Canadian boat and it has a department of transport plate on it, you might check with them to see if they have any information about that number or the registration number on the boat. Did you get a title or registration with it?

But I have to say, that might be a one off boat and when it comes down to it, you may not find much information on it.

I agree it certainly doesn't look similar to any Starcraft of that era. It isn't a fibreglass over wood boat, and the fit and finish suggest a factory manufactured boat. I will try to attach a pic of the side badge and of the interior as found. The seats to me look more like something from the 80's and not the 60's. Does the DOT plate look anything like Starcraft boats of similar vintage? Is the badge correct for the year?...do the screws look odd for the year?

Now that is interesting. Maybe a coincidental name from a Canadian manufacturer?

I take back that she is not a Starcraft. Amended to she isn't a Starcraft made in Goshen or New Paris, Indiana.

I wonder if during some of the ownership changes or bad times Starcraft had over the years, if licensing agreements were made with a boat company in Vancouver? :noidea:

Starcraft emblems of that era looked something this with block letters and an arrow through the center.

From a 1961 ad with a thinner arrow;

Hmmm, was thinking that I saw another hull similar to this for sale in the US lately...an early 60's Sabre Craft. Look at the hull, the windshield, the side trim....they appear identical, and both 18'.
