help figuring out year of 8hp mariner

i am trying to figure out what year of mariner outboard i have but cant find it by the serial number the tag reads like this mariner 8 then 677 ul700373 i think the ul700373 is the serial but i have tried looking with the 677 in front to and cant find anything thanx

Are you sure about the s/n 677-700373, especially the 373?

1978 begins with s/n 677-700691 which should make yours 1977 but I don't see any in that range before 1978 in the Japanese, European or American lists

it is a japanese model it says made in japan all over it and inside the covers it has little yamaha emblems but ya sure that is the numbers
