Is it safe to tow that glastron with my 98 durango 5.9L slt?

Your Durango has a manufacture's towing capacity of 7,000 lbs. I seriously doubt that the Glastron boat, motor, trailer and what ever else you would carry in it combined would ever exceed 2,000 lbs. So no worries!!!

That Glastron is in much better condition than the Galaxy. The Galaxy has been prettied up for sale, but its been run hard at some point.

As for that specific Glastron, it definitely looks to be a garage queen. I own a '78 & '79 Glastron-Carlson one's an I/O and one's an OB. I can tell you that they can and do rot out if not protected from the elements like this one appears to be.

If you're a new boater, this one appears to be an ideal candidate. I will say that if you don't have a place to store it inside, it will deteriorate like any other boat of that vintage. If you keep it protected and dry, it'll serve you well.

Like you've said, bring someone who knows boats along with to help you inspect. Don't worry about your budget, you can find good ones for what you have to spend...you just have to wait for the right one. If you get the Glastron, check out the Classic Glastron websites.

Good luck!

Sounds good. Just make sure the person you're taking is either a marine surveyor or someone who really knows their stuff! Let us know how you make out. And lots of pictures... we love pictures.

Just something to think about is that a tri hull always rides rougher than a v hull.
