help/advice on a 1970 85 hp evinrude

hi all, i am looking for some info and advice. i have a 1970 85 hp evinrude outboard and am setting it up for the first time. i have the electronics all set (real easy) i am baffled by how to connect the throttle cable to the linkage on the motor, i have a straight cable coming from the controller no hook or loop at the end. do i need to make a loop? i also am wondering what the fuel mixture should be, i assume 50:1 but i'd like to double check. thank you for your help.
