I have filled my manifolds with water and heated them with a torch, no signs of water leaking into exhaust ports. Is the an effective test are am I missing something?

Well, you proved the torch works.
Try this instead: http://forums.iboats.com/showthread.php?t=288629
I realize these manifolds are not dependable, however I am trying to determine if they are leaking RIGHT NOW. I have a new Jasper rebuild and I am trying to determine if I have manifold issues or Jasper issues, ( crack block, head , or leaking gaskets) very small leak and I am going crazy trying to find it. I do not want to start pulling heads and doing heavy stuff on a good running engine till I know where to go. thx for all the input.
The Only reliable Test for those batwing manifolds is the dockside "Float Test"....
Carry 'em down to the dock, 'n Toss 'em as far out as you can....
If they Float, you can use 'em.... Motor....
Ok , I gather you don't like these manifolds. Any info on pressure testing block would be helpful, correct me if I am mistaken , if I block off my water lines going to the manifolds, I then would tap into my block where the water coming off the pickup pump going into thermostat?
If I pressure test the block , how is that going to distingush between a crack and a bad head gasket/intake gasket, if the pressure leaks off , it could be either one??
