Does leaving the ex-wife (wife at time) floating in the cove count for this one?

Ok so I was messin with her at the time, but man could she let out some sailor words! And if that had been the reason for the divorce it wouyld have been so simpler, but i kept the boat when we split!!

HAHA I read this thread the other day and couldnt help think to myself how dumb I would feal if I did that. Last night I went out fishing with my brother and he wanted to show me a new spot that was tricky to get to so he wanted to drive. Without another thoght we swiched spots on the boat, he fired up the engine and we were off. When we got to the next spot we realized neither one of us had put the trolling motor up. thank goodness the water was skinny and we took it slow instead of running wide open.

No, but I have left 3 beautiful trout hanging by the stringer only to find their lips when I realized my error!

I just burst out laughing in my cube at work. Thanks for that.

Re: Has anyone else left the Trol. mtr down?

I once got a late night call from a buddy that had recently bought my old boat saying he couldn't tilt the main motor to get it on the trailer down at the river. After 10 minutes of phone instructions and no results, I got up and made the drive down to see what the big problem was. I was expecting to find him half loaded or simply forgetting to put the motor in Forward first but found that he had left the bow rope hang, which in turn had wrapped around the prop and lower unit of the motor securing it quite well. The look on his face when I pulled the bow towards the dock and cut the bow lead off the bow eye, allowing the motor to be tilted was priceless. After he was back on the trailer I asked him where the anchor and the trolling motor were, he was at a loss as he knew he began the day with both attached to the boat. The boat had a transom mount and a front trolling motor, he had somehow lost the transom mount motor during the course of the day and never knew it, and my guess was that the anchor got dragged till the rope gave way, which I was most likely what I cut free of the bow eye. I never got another late night call like that again. It wasn't his first boat, but was most likely the first one he had that had any real power or speed, so he most likely never noticed the drag of the anchor. He and his fishing partner that day were all but silent the whole time I was there after I cut the rope free. He didn't even look that concerned that he had lost the trolling motor till I told him what it was worth to replace.

Dear god, I just picked my stomach up off the floor, and my cheeks are raw from laughing. Not to mention my dog is trying to figure out what my problem is. :D:D:D:D God bless you guys, I know I will never meet the trolling motor fate...the anchor fate...well...I haven't yet, but I know it's just a matter of time....or not...cause I drop anchor in 100ft of water for big snapper and grouper...you KNOW if you have forgotten your anchor.

Yep...Had it in for about 5 miles. 15hp....When we got to the dock I finally noticed it. The front seat was in my field of vision as were the Bud Lights. When I jumped up and pulled the trolling motor up I then noticed that the prop was missing. About a half hours time about 10 mph was enough to back the nut off.

Re: Has anyone else left the Trol. mtr down?

Did it the night before last.

I was out 'til late and a bunch of boats (fishing tournament) were crowded around the ramp, waiting their turn to retrieve. As I was waiting, I dropped my bow mounted trolling motor in order to fold my bimini down. I was going to just troll into a dock/ramp when it was my turn, but decided that I really, really, really needed to "water the fish." That being the case, I figured I'd just stay out a little longer, so I began to slowly move down the bayou, looking for a place to "pull up a tree" on the bank. Fortunately, I noticed a bit of vibration from the motor being pushed through the water and pulled it up, before any damage was done.

There are certain things about boating, that you are just going to do, one time or another. Hmmmmmmm .... when's the last time I forgot to put the plug in? That one should be coming up again, soon!
