When installing stringers do u have to worry about hard spots on a 28 foot fiberglass hull? Some sites say not to lay the stringers directly against the hull other sites say it's ok?

Re: Hard spots and stringers?

The wisdom here in general says to worry about "hard spots" no matter how long the boat because it's all relative. The best solution is to space the stringers approx. 1/4" off the hull. How you attach them is your choice, some use peanut butter others use PL premium. I like the PL because it's strong AND cheap.

Re: Hard spots and stringers?

the original stringers were just laying on top of the hull. Once i cut the top of the fiberglass off the stringers just pulled out. So if a lay around 1/4 thick of pb epoxy and gently lay the stringers on top that should be good?
