Hey Guys,
Well i finally joined the boating world and ended up picking up a 1985 Rinker v170 with the 140 3.0 mercuriser for my first boat. The boat does need some work on the out drive and a good power washing, but for 300 bucks i could not go wrong, Ill post some picts here shortly.
However i have now started the cleaning up process and I am working on the trailer, it is not the orginial trailer that came with the boat, so i am replacing all the wiring, the trailor jack and the winch. My question is what is a good lb rating winch to get for this boat? I have been reading alot of different ways to calculate which one to get but i was thinking a 1500 lb would be ok.. or should i step up to a 2000 lb? also does anyone have any good ideas for a decent price unit? I have been looking at the Reese tow power model.
I know i will have more quesitons as i go along so hopefully i will just put them in the right place.
