I have to pick my days carefully. There are days when she will come out on the boat and read while I fish, and there are other days where she wouldn't be caught dead near the water......like when I am pounding through 4ft rollers or trolling through clouds of may flies after they hatch (they literally showed up on radar this year the hatch on Winnebago was so bad).

The day after his wife disappeared in a kayaking accident, an Anchorage man answered his door to find two grim-faced Alaska state troopers.
"We’re sorry, Mr. Wilkens, but we have some information about your wife," said one trooper.
"Tell me! Did you find her?!" Wilkens shouted.
The troopers looked at each other. One said, "We have some bad news, some good news, and some really great news. Which do you want to hear first?"
Fearing the worst, an ashen Mr. Wilkens said, "Give me the bad news first."
The trooper said, "I’m sorry to tell you, sir, but this morning we found your wife’s body in Kachemak Bay."
"Oh, no!" exclaimed Wilkens. Swallowing hard, he asked, "What’s the good news?"
The trooper continued, "When we pulled her up, she had 12 twenty-five pound king crabs and 6 good-size Dungeness crabs clinging to her."
Stunned, Mr. Wilkens demanded, "If that’s the good news, what’s the great news?"
The trooper said, "We’re going to pull her up again tomorrow.

WOW. I was wondering if the cicadas would have done that in TN two years ago, but I don't have radar turnin' to find out.

... I can see this will be a challenge to find something we both like.(and want to pay for) LOL
Y'know - we have looked / dreamed / drooled over some larger boats - more me than her - and have even talked about getting something we can overnight on. But the convenience of having a boat on a trailer in the garage, and the relative "cheapness" of it have won out over and over again. We'll probably be runnin' little boats for some time to come.

We all have are share of things happen. My wife has a short fuse for "boating issues". She will usually get over it by the next day.

Lake Winnebago is the only area I know where snow shovels get used in the late spring to clear mayfly bodies. Most people I know with houses on 'bago also use backpack blowers to clean their decks, siding, and roofs.

pretty much my thought exactly. I would love to have a large boat with cabin etc but I know I'll use a smaller one much more. the big lake is just over an hour from my house. not to mention buying fuel at the dock does not sound fun or affordable. LOL

It gets pretty crazy....at least the fishing is usually good enough to make it worth the annoyance. I am still finding fly bodies ground into the carpet from weeks ago.

We'll see if this image works, but I took this after driving to the landing a few weeks ago.

^^^^ "Chevy" being an ancient Indian word which (loosely translated) means "slayer of bugs."

We have a few weeks like that down here every couple of years, but not too regularly.

well she is wanting to boat again, but we had to go out in the little 12' tinny, as the spark plugs didn't fix the motor on the Larson, also replaced the fuel lines, still no dice, found out I have a broken piston:blue:. I have removed the powerhead and its on the bench in the garage. I need to take it all apart, the admiral has ok'd the purchase of a piston/ ring set, 3 ring sets to rering the other 3 and the powerhead gasket set, also a service manual, so I guess she's not done boating after all:rolleyes: hopefully I don't need much else and cost over runs wont change her mind
