Guys help please! I have had it with my boat

I bought an 86 Bayliner center console with a force 125 about 6 weeks ago. The guy I bought the boat from said the boat ran perfect. The first time I put the boat in the water the scuppers behind the splashwell were 1-2" below the water. When I checked for waterlogged foam I found no foam under the floor only in the walls which apeared to be dry. I have kapt the boat covered and the acess holes opened hoping that the innerds would dry if thats why it sits low. I forgot to mention that my spash well has a 1" plug hole in it where I had to plug it so the boat didnt sink. I ended up plugging the scupers so I could take the boat out. Since I had the boat I replaced the 4 plugs,1 solenoid, fuelpump kit, fuel filter, thermostat, waterpump kit, primer bulb and fuel lines and pingpong scuppers. I was in the water and when I went to restart the boat it wouldnt start in neutral. I gave it throttle and when I would go back to neutral it would die. I had to turn the throttle stop screw all the way in just to make it run in neutral so I could gat back in. Even if I try to give it just throttle it doesnt rev up like it did (sounds like low rpms at full throttle). When I tried to drive back at full throttle it didnt have any power and would barely move and eventually staul.I went down today and found that the compression on my bottom cylinder was only 70 psi. Would one cylinder with low compression cause it to run so poorly or do I have another problem? I called the man who sold me the boat and have printed the emails saying the boat is in perfect condition. I am asking for my money back and will persue it to court if need be but in the event I get stuck with this boat I would like to know what I need to fix. I welcome opinions about the court issue and fixing the boat.

Thank you

Man, you bought a used boat and didn't check it out properly.
Did you take out on the water first?
Did you get a written garrantee?
Sounds like a live and learn to me.

I didnt take the boat out in the water first but as I said under the floor looks O.K. the motor also ran fine at the hose but under load trying to go out was a different story

This is unfortunate, the boat looks great. There are a lot of postings on boat foam and I believe you can purchase through iBoats.

Nice looking boat you will have to rebuild or buy a new engine, the mech I used on my boat would not even waste my money if the compression between the cylinders was more than 10% good luck:)

Please don't feed the blood sucking attorneys. Feed the economy ,do the repairs required to make it safe and reliable. Make this boat yours by learning to do the repairs. You will know they were done right that way and there is nothing like pride of ownership when your done.
This forum has been a big help to me. Ask questions. These guys love to help.

From the description, the engine hasn't ran for two years, at this point I would give it a seafoam treatment , not much to loose

Seems like the guy is covered, "ran perfect last run." Lots of things can happen in a couple of years and they are YOUR responsibility to find out what they are BEFORE you buy it!!!!!!!!

The parts you replaced would normally need to be replaced on a motor of that age and after sitting for 2 years they should be replaced anyway, since you don't know when or if they ever have been. It may (does) need a carb rebuild. If you ran it for very long with gummed up carbs that may be why the comp on that cylinder is low. Try the Sea foam decarb treatment, if the rings are carboned up and stuck it may help, it may not work, but you're only out $6.00 if it doesn't. Make sure you have spark on all cylinders and check the coils for cracks.

If the boat sits low (lower than when new) in the water it will normally be from wet foam. You said there was no foam under the deck, if you checked the whole area under the floor and found no foam, then the level it floats at is normal. Foam is the only thing in a boat that can hold enough water create a problem like that, just being damp or wet in a non foamed bilge will have little or no effect on where the water line is.

Re: Guys help please! I have had it with my boat

Well seems pretty clear I will be doing the work and keeping the boat. I am inexperienced with boats so I will call this a mistake I wont soon make again. I did overpay and didnt know there were sites like this one until I began having problems. As for the boat I am sure I will know it inside out when I am done. my questions are.
1-would low compression in one cylinder be causing my problem with the boat barely revving up at max throttle

2- Is there any other reason I would have low compression aside from worn piston/rings. What I am asking is are there any other moving parts that could cause low compression.

3-The replies have been hard to take but seem true. The rebuild shouldnt be too difficult and as someone said I will know everything is in good working order. I will have a new 1986 force 125. As for the floatation. That is my big issue. I dont mind putting new rings in the motor but I have to figure out why it doesnt float high enough. I started thinking that I looked in my front acess hole and can only see back to the center console because there is a sheet of plywood (I think) blocking my view all the way back. From the rear access hole the gas tank is blocking the view up and I dont know how far the tank goes. I think I will cut a hole from under the cooler driving seat and be certain but I am sure I missed water logged foam somewhere.

It is good, but won't raise your compression.

the first thing you should do is get a manual and ask your question on the motor in the outboard section. The true experts are there......Good luck,,,you got a lot to learn...................SS

I don't think these 2 cycle motors have a removable head. The pistons come out through the crankcase.
Like SS said get manual for the motor.

I would try other things before taring apart the motor right off the bat.
