Guessing young adult kids text back rather than call?

I have 3 "Alexa's" in my house, my brother hates them and thinks they are spying on you. To each, there own I guess.

I love my Alexa. We have 8 among our 3 homes.

they are not exactly spying as such , what they are doing is collecting random data about users lifestyle and storing it on a database , many marketing company's use the information collected to put items on shelves in stores in your neighborhood .
there are many other things the data base info is used for , kind of the same thing as google analytics or the smart TV you have but more intrusive.

The 1st phone I remember in our house was a big wooden box on the wall with an earpiece on a hook on the side. We talked into an adjustable device attached to the front and had to turn a crank to get the operator to ring a number for us. There was a little table and a pencil holder for taking notes. Yes, it was a party line.

I don't think tinfoil hats would work with a party line but I did put duct tape on my computers camera. LOL. I remember my mom speaking German to her mom when on the community phone.. I guess privacy was important to them. These days your out of luck on that privilege..

Well if google wants to know what I had for supper, its worth the convenience to me. I'll unplug it if I ever have a meeting on over throwing the gov at my house.......

that is all well and good and a if thinking like that makes you feel comfortable.
the information collected could be and is used for plenty of other things , not jus what people are eating for supper.

BTW a tinfoil hat wont stop these things collecting data , but a BFH would if someone put one in my home.

You are probably on a cell phone and you are probably on a computer....too late...data on you has already been collected.

Get off the internet and don't use a cell phone if you are really worried.....maybe use a BFH on both of them.

I know you will say I'm naive, but I'm one of the few that actually trust the gov to properly monitor and regulate the collection and use of info gathered by these companies.

I remember a knock on the door years ago.-----I was on a " party line" with a few other folks.-----I was asked whether my phone was in order.-----Folks heard a dog barking on their phone.----My dog let them know it was my phone upsetting the system.----Somewhat embarrassing.

Now Private Companies getting my Info, that is really scary. Never Trust a Business or Businessman, biggest Criminals going, I would trust Charles Manson before I will ever trust a Businessman
