That would work

I did get them all but the one pup went from the back to the front deck. It took a while, he was just barely sticking his head out. He did it once to often and there all gone.

Will say I liked sitting and waiting and getting the shot, been many years since I did any. Took a 2x4 and used it to get under the decks and fill holes (which I couldn't see) best I could. Also smoothed it out so if something gets back under there I might notice. Hope a skunk doesn't make it a home, that would be worst

Can you close the underside off somehow to maybe keep the critters out ?

Have herd if you bury some real heavy hardware cloth that will stop them, but that also means doing a lot of digging. They have no issue going 5 feet

Pesky little varmints. Watched it for about and hour, just set there looking around. Got down a couple times but only to go closer to the house (out of sight), then would come back to the same spot. Going to get a different vantage spot

You have talking groundhogs? Don't be too aggressive - A circus sideshow might be looking for a new attraction! LOL

You're like my Dad protecting Mom's garden. :D I think the varmints usually won because of a poor sight line with blocking tomatoes and ears of corn, but hope you have better luck!

I hate to tell you this, but Pasture Pigs are migratory ... you clear them out of the area and a new batch will move into the old holes ... One year I shot 23 from the same spot at our churches pavilion ... you would have thought that would have cleared out the population ... they were back in force the next year. I have kind of given up on clearing them out because they keep coming back!

My .22 air rifle will take them out even at that distance, quiet, quick and deadly, I can shoot out to 75 yards with it and hit what I am aiming at. Just shot 2 coyotes yesterday, One shot, one kill, they didn't stand a chance and nobody heard me shooting.

Never thought of cracked corn, always thought they wanted vegetables and such, might give it a try

I do know that the varmints will for ever come until I close up the problem. My plan (maybe next year) is to rip out both wood decks and pour concrete.

It doesn't matter what I fire around my place (12 ga, 25-06, 22, other), its on 24 acres, and no one cares. Still want to get me another air rifle, just haven't yet. Did buy me a new scope for this rifle (Nikon rim fire 3x9) but then need to speed some time sighting it in.

Might have to get one, place it then sit back and watch, and remove when I leave, otherwise it will all be gone and next moring they may not even come out due to food comma.

Funny

We were floating around today thinking about the non-wet folks , and a friend says to get some bubble gum, unwrap and toss down the hole, says they love it and it will kill them. Kind of hard to get at the hole, but figure I could toss some pieces around. Guess if I start smelling something, then need to get something to reach under the deck and push some dirt in

I've shot at the latest GH 5 times so far and not hit him, starting to think something has happened to my eye or the sights. The other 5 was not much of an issue, and the last one was just a pup and he had his head just under the deck, no more then about 2.5 inch around and got him between the eyes.

Printed out some targets and going to check the sights tomorrow. After that, going to install the new scope and zero it in

Enough info out there to make your own

I know how to make it, unfortunately my FFL does not cover me making explosive devices or materials and I really don't want to jeopardize my current license and I don't want to jump through the hoops to get another license. That said, it is not hard to make.

Targeted the iron sights and I was shooting high and to the right.

Installed the scope and a 50 yards wasn't hitting the target or the sign which was 3x2 feet. Walked up to 20 yards and was shooting low, and had to turn it up 2 full turns before I got it close enough to start the process.

Used Remington viper and Federal Eagle and used the Rem's first, both are probably at least 15 years old. Got it within range and only had a few mis-fires. Was finishing up and started to use the Fed's and they where hitting 2 inch lower. The Fed's never listed velocity like the Rem's so guessing they were just cheap rounds with less powder

I stepped off where I have been firing from and its 35 to 40 yards so did a bit more with some CCI stingers and they where center bull, so should be good tomorrow

I bought a bunch of .22 last summer and have finally started using them, they are CI brand made in Mexico and it is good ammo, the version I am using is the 1500 fps and it is dead on in my 10/22 Ruger that is 50 years old, Dad gave this gun to me for Christmas many years ago and it can still pump them out there, have not had one misfire with them.

Thanks MT, I have shot a lot of CCI but no CI will need to look them up. Is it to look for the fps or something else? My guess would keep the fps in range so that way the need for re-zero is reduced
