Yesterday was my first day back to work. Checked my snail mail from being off. I found out that my certification maybe yanked if I don't attend a 6 hour course in electrical saftey. This has to be done before the first of July.

I think it is cool that they are going to send me, but I think it is ashame that more time is going to be spent in travel time going to Dallas. Boss told me that they are going to try to get another class mustered together in my region.

Someone must of gotten electrocuted or injuried. Usually that is the only reason that they push these classes. Now I'm going to have to carry a $700 kit to lock out the panels and warning signs for when I'm working on the equipment.

Glad to be back at work, more than enough to keep me busy for awhile.....BTW the knee is doing great,,,,,,,so far

Re: Gotta go to class

you may find it has something to do with a Quality Assurance Program that either your employer has, or his customers have.
Part of the audit says all staff have to be trained in x-y-z areas for saftey etc. I think that part is called workplace health and saftey here.
We have just completed a new QA, at a big cost too, and staff training and saftey had to be re-done....not that it is a big deal for us......but anything that saves an injury to a staff member is worth while............especially the sort of injuries you could suffer.
Cheers

Not sure, I'll look at the letter in the morning at the shop.(if this ice storm lets me) Its the manufacture of the grills that we use. They are mostly gas or 208/240 3ph. So this safety course mostly deals with commercial kithen equipment. I'm sure it is important, otherwise they wouldn't spend the money on it.

It will be neat if I have to go to Texas, problem is that it will be down and back. Would have been nice to maybe meet a member while there. Hopefully I'll know in a week or two more information.

Well, safety's important... unless they are flying you on Southwest airlines... wouldn't that be ironic? :D

In case you didn't know, Southwest is in some trouble with the FAA over flying some unsafe aircraft.
