Got me a new laptop!

YEAH! The old one was just giving me too many headaches and way to slow, then the virus came and it was all downhill. The new Toshiba Satellite came, 2.66gHz processor intel i5 processor, 4G of ram and 500 gig of hard drive. Having fun tonight getting everything installed, trying to figure out Windows 7, Office 2010, and the new key configuration.

I do like the backlight keyboard, so I can see what I am doing when I am awake and the better half is wanting to go to sleep.

I'm like a kid at Christmas tonight! I don't like the lenght of time it takes to download programs, but this thing is blazing fast compared to what I was used to!

Sounds great bud ! I like my old toshiba - but think some thing new is in order . at least I bought some time upgradeing to DSL....dial-up was driving me nuts !! I'm happy for you , keep us posted on how well it performs ! peter

YIKES! I hope not also! Hate to go through the hours of work to get all my programs loaded, bookmarks added, passwords updated, etc, only to have it burn up on my lap!

So far, so good, though.

Congrats man... There are a lot of Toshiba nay-sayers out there, but I loved mine for 3 years till it got stolen I would look into that recall (just to be safe). Good luck man.

Yes, Jenn just purchased a new HP G72 and gave my old dell 8600 back to me! Now I just tolerate her snickering

I just repaired a Toshiba who's graphics chip got so hot that it desoldered from the board. There is a class action lawsuit against Toshiba for a ****-poor design for the cooling system for the main and graphics chips on the Toshiba's sold just a couple of years ago. It was a horrible design, didn't even have any thermal paste on the chip!! Ugh! Well that made me a permanent "no Toshiba" guy but good luck to the new owner.

Nice Art, you went for the I5. I just got one today myself but only an I3. It's a Dell Studio http://tinyurl.com/2ev7o26 I just noticed I have backlit keyboard also which is way cool!

I got the same one, used daily for 4 to 6 hours or more for work since 02/10 and ZERO issues.

The keyboard with backlighting sounds great! Now I have to see if there are 2.4 giga-hertz wireless keyboards with that feature. Probably not, due to battery drain, but that would be very cool feature for my desktops!

BTW, for those who have not tried a 2.4 gHz keyboard/mouse, they are very cool. They have much better range than a standard wireless, use very little power and you can run both off of a single USB "button." Unlike the older wireless systems, you don't have a bulky, wired receiver - just a small button with a USB insert.

My Dell Latitude C610 died the other day and I picked-up a used Toshiba A65 Satellite for $150.
Holy crap this thing is fast !! . I put it threw the stress test and....
I can run 22 programs at once and this lappy doesn't miss a heartbeat.

I really like toshiba laptops. In my oppinion they are the best on the market right now. I have had 3 of them, and I am not nice to them either. They just keep running and running, 0 issues.

The first one i had, i used for 3 years and gave it to a friend. he is still using it to this day.

Well, so far, so good ... the case is a bit "cheaper" than my last couple of dells, and the keyboard has an interesting screech when hitting the space bar and a couple of other keys, but other than that, it has been sweet! Much faster than the old one, and much more room!

Wife has been using the old one since I formatted the hard drive and re-installed EVERYTHING. It also has been working flawlessly ... like it did when new. So it was a win-win situation and we are both happy!

Yep, I was a Dell lover for 10yrs . But NOT anymore !!.
Right now, I'm downloading some songs & doing updates & I'm on 4 other boating sites & watching a Ozzy's video all at once.

Toshiba ROCKS !!.
