Re: Got Facebook?

I've never heard of a brower setting that will stop a virus from getting on your compu.

Please explain that one. :)

How do you know this without having a virus program telling you that you don't ??.

All you have to do, is set up your browser so it does not automatically execute code or .exe programs..don't open links in your mail that you don't trust also look at the content of the message that is sent to you, does it make sense? is it the type of email that your friend normally sends you?

Also I have been programing since the days of the commodore vic 16 as well as the old trash 80 series of computers that Radio Shack put out, I did a lot of beta testing for Norton's way back in the infancy days of online communications when I lived in Portland, OR, where they were located at the time..

As long as you don't let your computer automatically execute code, your not going to get bit by a virus, it just comes down to the fact you take control of your computer and don't let your computer take control of you..

As long as you have your browser set up correctly, that is to not automatically execute code, you will never get a virus.

As far as knowing, I know what to look for at the kernel level, without the graphics interface, I don't automatically boot into windows when I start up my computer I always boot up into the black screen with the white letters, then I execute the command to start windows..

But I agree, it is probably far to much trouble for most people now a days..

One other thing I will add, is I work in a Linux system far more often that I do a windows environment, which a completely different ball game, but with the new graphics environment available for Linux it makes the computer a lot more user friendly.
