Globe Run-Dry works or not?

did anyone have any kind of experience with such impeller? all i found were some speculations about this ....
i am not trying to run engine dry for 15 minutes but just get more life out of impeller without replacing it often

well first if it would be located within 2 minutes access like on my aq175a - it wouldn't be a problem, but going into bravo 1 takes time as i see.
second, i am for quality built products, the only reason i see why those OEM impellers are made this way (weak and poor) is for manufacturers to have repeat customers doing "routine" service, basically tricking people into buying more parts.

maybe there is another hidden reason which i am gladly open to hear

I have no experience with that impeller, but most of the time you can go 3-4 years with the standard impeller without having issues. Yeah, the Merc manual says every 2 years, but it's a bit excessive for many people who only put 20 hrs a year on a boat. I certainly wouldn't be swapping it out just for the ability to run the engine dry. The impeller may not melt, but the rubber exhaust components and water pump housing/seals will melt long before 15 minutes is up.

well, here is a quick example, last summer we were fishing in unfamiliar spot and drew some sand in which cooked impeller within minutes, i wish i had something stronger at that time, so that is why i am asking whether this dry run impeller hold up and at least give that buffer of time to get out of situation like this.

Ayuh,.... I've run a couple of 'em,... They Do last well, 'n hold up,...

But pumpin' Sand will tear up the housin', 'n end plates,...
Even the blue impeller won't fix that,....
