I have a 1973 Glastron V156 runabout. At the back of the boat on the righthand side, just in front of the transom is a metal flange about 8 inches in diameter that has a threaded tube inserted into it. The steering rod runs through this tube.

The issue is the the metal flange is badly rusted and is starting to de-laminate. I'm afraid it's going to break. I don't know what the flange is called. I was wondering if anyone could inform me as to it's actual technical name is and was wondering where I could purchase one or have one made.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Ayuh,...

I'm Guessing, your steering cable does Not go through the tilt tube of the motor,..

There for you have this contraption that holds the motor's end of the steering cable,...

Right,..??..??

I figured it out.

The flange is for a splashwell steering mount. Here's a picture. I can buy them on-line.

The white flange is what is rusting badly on my boat.
