Gimbal Housing Eyelit

I just noticed that I didn't install the p/n 14705 plastic eyelit (item #19 in pic) that came with the Mercury shift cable, on my Alpha Gen I. I also, didn't remove one of these, when I removed the old shift cable (which may have been aftermarket).
Where exactly does this plastic piece go, and is it a big deal if it's not installed?

If you mean #19, ignore it. the old one should still be there.

Thanks, but I'm just curious; where does it go? Could I see if it's still there?

Re: Gimbal Housing Eyelit

Oh, so it's installed from the forward end, into the Gimbal Housing? So, theoretically, I should be able to see it from the engine compartment, looking aft?
I'll take a gander....but I see what you mean, one should still be there since I didn't remove any.
Looks like it's some kind of grommet, to reduce the ID of the hole through the Gimbal housing?
