I need a new cover for my 1985 Wellcraft. I'm thinking of going with one of those inexpensive generic covers and I'm curious what some of you old pros think. I could pop for a custom cover but I'm not sure it's worth spending very much money on such an inexpensive boat. Thoughts?

How much should I expect to spend for a custom cover on an 18 foot bowrider?

I am in the same boat. Get it? Seriously though I am picking up my new to me boat tomorrow and there is no cover as he keeps it in the garage. Due to funds I will be buying one of the Ebay ones for this year. I am ordering it Friday and will have it by next week. I will let you know.

I see what you did there!!;)

I will probably have to make a decision before you receive your cover but please do let me know either way. I was all set to get one of the inexpensive generics ($150) and call it done but my wife is suggesting we get a custom made cover. The ones roffey suggested above may be a good intermediate plan at around $300. I assume a custom made cover for an 18 ft boat would run me between $500 and $800. I haven't made the call though so I don't know for certain. Maybe I'll get a couple of minutes today. I will likely have to store my boat outside this winter so I do want it protected from the elements as much as possible.

I have already priced out a custom cover here in Utah and it is going to run me $700ish which I don't have at the moment. So a generic will have to work for this year. I plan on keeping the boat under my carport outside so I think I will be ok until next year when I can have the custom cover made.

I just bought the Classic Accessories Lunex RS-2 size "D" ( 17' - 19' L x 102") for my bayliner 185 Bow Rider which measures 18' - 1" x 7' - 8". It fits the boat perfectly.
It was $164.
Decent cover with vents in the back for air to escape while trailering. Enough straps and buckles to do the job. Also 3 sewn on straps that go across the cover for added security. Repels water nicely too.

If you want to go very cheap look at vortex covers. I got one for my boat for 90 bucks. Before that I had a $300 semi custom that was a little better made.
